01 Information We Collect

When you create an account or use Kalma, we may collect the following:

• Account information — your name and email address when you sign up
• Usage data — daily session completions, streaks, and goal journey progress
• App preferences — session duration, reminder settings, and theme
• Survey responses — optional answers provided during goal setup and completion
• Device information — basic technical data (OS version, device type)
• Community content — posts, comments, and reactions you share in Kalma Circles, along with your chosen display name or alias
• Moderation data — reports you submit and content moderation actions taken on your account

If you use Kalma as a guest, no personal information is collected. Data is stored locally on your device only.

02 How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and personalise your Kalma experience
• Sync your progress and streak across devices
• Send optional reminder notifications (only if you enable them)
• Improve app features and fix issues
• Respond to support requests

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.

03 Community Content (Kalma Circles)

Kalma Circles is a community feature that allows signed-in users to share posts and comments with other Kalma users. By participating, you agree to our community standards.

When you use Kalma Circles:

• Your posts and comments are visible to all signed-in Kalma users
• You may choose to post under your real name or an anonymous alias
• Content you post is stored on our servers and is subject to moderation review

Reporting & Blocking

Every post and comment includes a Report option. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team and reported content may be removed at our discretion.

You can also Block any user from their posts. Blocking a user instantly removes their content from your feed and prevents you from seeing their future posts or comments. Blocked users are not notified. All block actions are also flagged to our moderation team for review.

Content Removal

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates our Terms of Service without notice. Users who repeatedly violate community standards may be permanently banned from Kalma Circles.

04 Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), which provides industry-standard encryption both in transit and at rest.

Local data (for guest users or offline use) is stored on your device using SharedPreferences and is not transmitted to any server.

05 Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We share data only with:

• Google Firebase — for authentication, database, and cloud functions
• Cloudflare R2 — for secure storage and delivery of audio content
• Law enforcement — only if required by applicable law

No other third parties receive your personal data.

06 Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction — update your name or email in the app settings
• Deletion — request that we delete your account and all associated data
• Portability — request your data in a readable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.

Signing out of the app clears all locally cached personal data from your device immediately.

07 Children's Privacy

Kalma is available to users of all ages. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

08 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Continued use of Kalma after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
